Mobile retail sites perform well, but are too slow to load, according to Keynote study PDF Print E-mail

International shoppers looking to research and make purchases on their smartphones are experiencing delays and are having to wait for an average of 15.95 seconds for sites to load.

Keynote Competitive Research, the industry analysis group of Keynote Systems, is tracking the mobile site performance of 21 of the top retailers across seven countries.  Results for April show that the international average for site availability is 98.39%, however consumers around the world are experiencing long waits for their chosen site to fully load.

German consumers have the quickest performing mobile retails sites, with an average site load time of 5.63 seconds for April. UK sites were the second fastest overall with an average waiting time of 7.04 seconds for UK sites John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Next and Tesco to load.

Swedish retailers were the slowest overall of those monitored, with an average load time of over half a minute for April - 32.26 seconds.
