LS Travel Retail Asia/Pacific, a duty-free division of Lagardère Services, has unveiled its first core duty-free shops in the Pacific region at Noumea La Tontouta International airport.
The travel retailer said that the 438m² departures shop and 95m² arrivals store increased the airport's duty-free floor space size by almost 50%, following a refit, reported DFNIonline.
Lagardère Services COO Emmanuel de Place said that LS Travel Retail has a firm resolve to grow the company's global footprint in duty-free.
"Noumea airport is investing in the long-term development of its passenger experience and we're delighted to be a part of this evolution," Place added.
"It's a milestone moment for us, marking the first opportunity to bring the well known Aelia Duty Free brand to the region."
The firm's contract at the location is for 10 years and the stores are operated through a joint venture with New Caledonian operator Marlène.
