Two specialists in the restaurant EPoS sector, software solutions provider Tevalis and its touchscreen hardware partner J2 Retail Systems have revealed that their technology is now installed across the Mark Hix Restaurant Group.

Chef, restaurateur and food writer Mark Hix formed Restaurants Etc in January 2008 and now has a number of restaurants in London and one in Lyme Regis.

Observes Ratnesh Bagdai, the group's co-founder and finance director: "The Tevalis system is incredibly easy to use both at point-of-sale and in the back-office.

It's extremely quick and very well thought out. The reporting is web-based, which is a huge benefit as we can access the reports from any of our offices."

A spokesman for Tevalis says the company is proud to be the Mark Hix Restaurant Group's chosen EPoS technology partner.

"This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the support and service we offer to Hix and all our clients."

When it came to recommending hardware for the Hix restaurants, Tevalis turned to J2 Retail Systems, a manufacturer of PC-based touchscreen technology to the hospitality industry worldwide.

Continues Humble: "We chose the J2 680 units for the Mark Hix restaurants because they offer the best performance in the market from a very reliable manufacturer that we've been using for many years.

All J2 terminals use the latest chipset technology, which is a perfect marriage for the Mark Hix sites which are extremely busy hospitality environments that demand speed and reliability."

The J2 680 is regarded by many as the ultimate in touch terminals, due to its power, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Hix Soho's general manager, Dariush Tamadon-Nejad, recalls the restaurant's opening: "An exceptionally dynamic restaurant opening required an EPoS system that could handle the pressure and provide the support we required. After 2-3 months, we had a system which was almost tailor-made for our restaurant.  Support from Tevalis engineers was excellent. Hix Oyster & Fish House boasts panoramic views across the Jurassic coast from its harbourside location in Lyme Regis.  Says the restaurant's manager: "With our new system, re-programming the till for a menu that changes every service is so much easier.  Tevalis have a very helpful team, always wanting to improve their service and their product."

The latest addition to the Hix portfolio, Hix Tramshed, a 150-cover restaurant and bar with Damien Hirst artwork, opened a couple of weeks ago in Shoreditch.
